Oh My God

Oh My God is my song of the day. The Lily Allen/Mark Ronson version though because she sings like I talk.
Time on your side that will never end
The most beautiful thing you can ever spend
But you work in a shirt with your name tag on it
Drifting apart like a plate tectonic
It don't matter to me
'Cos all I wanted to be
Was a million miles from here
Somewhere more familiar
Too much time spent dragging the past up
I didn't see you not looking when I messed up
Settling down in your early twenties
Sucked more blood than a backstreet dentist
It don't matter to me
'Cos all I wanted to be
Is a million miles from here
Somewhere more familiar
Oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
Great rulers make for greater glory
The only thing growing is our history
Knock me down I'll get right back up again
I'll come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man
It don't matter to me
'Cos all I wanted to be
Was a million miles from here
Somewhere more familiar
Oh my god, I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
And oh my god I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home

My new netbook

I now own a Dell Mini 10v netbook. I haven't got it just yet but it's all paid for and should be with me by June 23rd.
I can't wait to get it because it is so cute and shiny. It can fit into my handbag which is so adorable.
I played around on one at Best Buy and I thought the screen would be too small but it isn't really and I can use it for everything I normally use the P.C. or laptop for.
I was thinking about a laptop because then you get to watch dvds and stuff but really it isn't necessary because we have a dvd player in the living one and now one in the bedroom and if we are going on a long car journey I can always use the laptop.
I would want to use itunes on the netbook so I had to check that it was capable of storing a good amount of music and yay...it is. Some reviews by other people say that they have got movies stored on it so it should be good for a fair amount of my favourite albums.
The best thing is that we upgraded to the bigger battery so it should last around seven hours or so rather than the two and a half hours with the smaller battery.

It is a terrible mistake to marry a stranger.

Agatha should have known better. She'd been twenty-four years old and had given serious consideration to three different men before Archie had come along on his borrowed motorbike.
All three had been properly educated, with private incomes. All three were deeply in love.
But...Bolton was too old.
And Wilfred, obsessed with spiritualism.
And Reggie, had gone off to India to help others, giving her the opportunity to change her mind.
It was a woman's prerogative and, like a fool, she'd exercised it.
Agatha didn't know Archie. She couldn't predict how he would react to a word, a phrase, a look. He was scary, unknown, on a tear through her safe, sane world, and still she found herself drawn to him, like metal to a magnet.
Agatha's mother despaired of her daughter's romantic sensibility. She refused to allow her to rush into the marriage, insisting upon a curative regime of French realist novels, in which the passionate heroines are hurled inexorably into disaster, degradation and death. But the cure did not take.
Agatha and Archie married on Christmas Eve.
Scary, unknown: Agatha got what she'd bargained for, and more.
"This thing has happened," Archie said one dark December day. "I must be with Nancy. One way or another I will be."
Fine, then. So be it.
Agatha resumed her handiwork. She'd always been good with scissors. Today she was cutting stories out of the newspapers and pasting them in an album.
One day, they'd be yellowed with age, curled in the places where the paste wouldn't hold. She'd study them and remember. Now their edges were sharp enough to draw blood.
Archie had said in his own defense that everybody can't be happy, that someone had to be unhappy.
But why, Agatha asked herself that evening as she slipped on the silver dress and slipper she'd purchased in town, should I be unhappy and not you?

An evening with.......

After watching the American Idol final last night I was surprised at the amount of "stars" that appeared to duet with the contestants. It led to a conversation between my husband and I as to who we would duet with. He picked Tori Amos (although I voted for Lil' Kim for him) and I just couldn't settle for only one star. My list started getting so long I decided that I would need to have my own Saturday night entertainment show and each week I could have a couple of people appear to sing with me. So far my guest spots include.....Cher, Kenny Rogers (with a very special guest appearance by Dolly Parton), possible Tina Turner, Meatloaf, Lionel Richie (only if we can sing the dancing on the ceiling song), Tom Jones.... I think I would have to give Tom Jones and Cher a whole evening each seeing as they have so many belters.
Anyway, that is the first month of shows taken care of. I will update the next month of shows as and when I can remember who the others were.

Introducing my blog

I started a blog yesterday and it was going to have little deals and bargains and be somewhere for me to write about my day. I've decided to start a separate blog for each though as it would be too messy otherwise. So here is my day to day blog. I probably will write in it for a month max and then not be bothered with it again. We shall see.
So today we had good news. We finally received our tax rebate which is fantastic. I am getting a new laptop just for me which is exciting. We're also going to get a new television for the bedroom. The rest is up for discussion but hopefully we can use some to pay for a flight for me to go home later in the year. It would be nice to use some to pay off the credit card. That would probably be sensible. Of course I would also like some new clothes, books, cds, driving lessons, gadgets and stuff in general. I think we will probably have this money spent before it even clears.
